The underground hotel is a unique architectural concept that reflects an innovative and imaginative approach to design. In contrast to tall buildings, this hotel turns downward, allowing for a deep connection with materiality, texture, and the tectonic qualities of space.

Designing a hotel within a former wine cellar presented a complex challenge. We envisioned the hotel as a series of guest rooms placed within the large volume of the cellar. Rather than altering the original structure, we chose to insert smaller rooms into the space, preserving the existing atmosphere while creating generous shared areas for interaction and gathering. This layout allows guests to enjoy both community and privacy.

The distinctive character of the underground hotel lies in the interplay of materials. The space is shaped by strong contrasts and careful proportions between the original brick and stone walls and the newly built rooms. These new volumes introduce smooth surfaces, clean lines, and refined detailing. Throughout the hotel, from the reception and shared areas to the guest rooms, the tension between old and new is tangible. Stone textures complement large surfaces in white and black, creating a rich visual dialogue.

Housed in a former wine cellar, the underground hotel offers guests a truly memorable experience. It blends the timeless charm of traditional materials with the comfort and sophistication of contemporary design.
