The start-up Airpod was founded in response to a growing problem we encounter in nearly all public spaces such as airports, bus stations, and train terminals. These environments often lack private spaces where people can feel safe, comfortable, and able to relax.

This very issue was on the minds of the clients who approached us with their concept. They invited us to bring their idea to life, enriched by our knowledge of industrial design. From the start, we understood that the project would require in-depth and exciting research into the travel industry and the experiences it currently offers to its users.

We began by designing the sleeping capsule from the inside out, starting with sketches focused on ergonomics and interior layout. Our priority was to bring both open and concealed storage spaces closer to the user in a way that creates a sense of intuitive accessibility. Industrial designer Andrej Kregar placed strong emphasis on meeting the expectations of even the most demanding travelers who find themselves waiting at airports, while also keeping the solution affordable. Throughout the process, we paid close attention not only to the visual appeal of the capsule but also to its practical value.

Every feature and advantage of the capsule’s interior is the result of a complex design process and thousands of carefully considered decisions, all aimed at improving the user’s relaxation experience. We sought to enhance everyday functions such as lighting and sound. The business class seat inside the capsule incorporates cutting-edge technology that transforms the way users listen to music and watch films. Privacy is ensured through smart glass technology, and the capsule provides a quiet environment ideal for undisturbed work, rest, or sleep.

We also developed a simple and intuitive interface for controlling the capsule. Users can manage all functions with a single finger via a control panel. A monitor displays real-time flight information, and an alarm function ensures you have plenty of time to reach your boarding gate.

To further enhance relaxation, we included calming LED lights and music that uses healing frequencies. These additions can improve sleep and help reduce stress and anxiety, which are common in busy public settings like airports.

In terms of industrial design, we selected high-quality textures and forms to create a luxurious and restful experience. By combining ergonomic functionality with a modern aesthetic, we developed a shape that is both inviting and visually striking.

We refined and merged existing ideas on the market into a product that performs countless functions at once. The result of this dedicated process is a sleek, thoughtfully designed capsule that will be placed at the heart of major public locations, offering a private sanctuary for travelers.

With its elegant appearance and innovative features, this is the first in a new generation of sleeping capsules.
