The Underground Hotel is a unique concept that exudes an innovative and creative approach to architecture. As a negation of tall buildings, the underground hotel offers a real connection with materials, textures and tectonics.
The design of a hotel located in the space of a former wine cellar is no simple task. We designed the hotel as a series of hotel rooms that fill the large volume of the cellar. We decided not to change the current situation and just “fill” the space with smaller rooms, creating a larger common space for meeting and interaction, while allowing guests to retreat to the intimacy of their room.
The charm of an underground hotel is created by the interplay of different materials. The space is strongly defined by the contrasts of materials and the relationship between the old brick and stone walls and the new rooms with their smooth surfaces, clean lines and elegant design. The contrast between old and new is felt at every turn, in the reception area, in the shared space, but most of all in the individual rooms, where the stone textures are complemented by large white and black surfaces.
The underground hotel, built in a former wine cellar, offers guests a unique and unforgettable experience, combining the old-world charm of traditional materials with the comfort and luxury of modern design.
